Let me inform you that about 200 Russian and foreign companies (including Concern Energoatom, Atomenergoprom, Atomenergomash, All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Operation, E4 Group, OMZ, Gidromash, Elektrohimichesky zavod, CKBA, Navgeokom, Irvik, PM Soft, AREVA, E.ON Kernkraft, KSB AG, Toshiba RUS LLC, Alfa Laval, Roxor Industry and others) participated in the 2nd International Conference «Building Nuclear Power Plants» (26 November 2008, «President-Hotel», Moscow).

The conference was organized by SBCD Expo company in cooperation with ATOMINFORM. 



The following topics were discussed at the conference: «Investment management», «Contractual models in constructing power units», «Organizing project management in the nuclear power sector», «The concept of unitary project-technical documentation», «Engineering», «Technologies of 3D modeling for nuclear power plants projecting and reconstruction», «Perspective turbine generators», «The usage of new technologies and materials», «Corrosion prevention», «Pipe details production for nuclear power plants», «Pumping and heat-exchange equipment», «IT – accompanying life cycle of nuclear power plants», «Controlling ecological safety of units», «Ecological management system – ISO 14001» and many others.

Besides, taking into consideration the present market situation, the representatives of the companies were interested in the perspectives of development of the nuclear power sector in Russia and in the world, participation in the contest for building nuclear power units and equipment delivery for nuclear power plants.



Deputy General Director of the State Corporation «Rosatom» A. Lokshin pointed out that «principal changes in the program of building nuclear power plants in Russia are not expected». «Not any developed country has announced collapse of the program of nuclear power development», stated A. Lokshin, more than that, «nowadays the number of countries (such as Venezuela, Thailand, Vietnam) seriously interested in the development of the nuclear power sector is increasing». According to his words, the situation with decreasing prices for oil and gas nowadays bears rather psychological character, and in perspective the prices for these power sources will grow. Thus nothing can replace nuclear power, he stressed. 

At the final session of the 2nd International Conference «Building Nuclear Power Plants», its participants stressed the high level of conference organization and timeliness and productiveness of the meeting regardless of the global economical crisis. As Alexandr Lokshin stated, «crisis implies not only losses but also new opportunities. One should make use of these opportunities!»

According to our experience of organizing events, held within the Planet Dreaming project, conference participants are interested not only in discussing the topics connected to the development of nuclear power sector at the conference «Building Nuclear Power Plants» and the Forum ATOMCON, but also in publishing materials including information about their company in a professional journal for nuclear power sector.  

I am glad to inform you that the new scientific and practical journal for nuclear power sector – ATOMCON has been released. At the pages of ATOMCON journal we hope to see your articles and the articles of your partners about Russian and foreign experience on the theory and practice of building and operating nuclear power plants. Our objective, as we see it, is to create constantly working effective informational field which represents the interests of the emerging market in the nuclear power sector.
